My journey into the dental profession begun out of burning need-to-know why I had to lose about three of my bone-crushing teeth before a mere age 20- never mind my old oral health habits- Horrible!. And to think we are all assured only a set of natural adult teeth. Except of course artificial replacements e.g. Implants – expensive, Dentures- can be uncomfortable. So knowing how to save me and others from a life of “eating” from a straw and managing what’s left was very important.
While visiting the dentist is not an appealing prospect, especially when you HAD to go –I know, as that was my case when Mr. Toothache comes knocking, especially in the middle of night when there is no dentist to help yank it out (that’s what you’d want at times like that). Regular dental visits will either give you the “all clear” or save you the midnight scenario and help nip dental issues in the bud before it gets out of hand…I also know that because I am a Dental Nurse and I have seen it happen, so please, visit your dentist regularly.
I’ll walk the line with you in this column, making it fun and real by sharing my varying experiences to help you ease into appreciating the importance of good oral health habits as part of a healthy choice for yourselves and your family’s well being.
